Weekend of Suprises

Saturday involved our usual football game and track. No meet just practice for Kel. Jake threw for 2 touchdowns! He is quite the quarterback and is improving with each game. After that I had a thrilling weekend of laundry, cleaning, and school work ahead of me.
We had some unexpected visitors this weekend which was great. On Saturday morning my sister-in-law and niece emailed and said they were going to be in town. We hadn't seen them since last spring. We had a great couple of hours visiting. Tabitha took out her old dolly stuff and played babies with Isabelle. She was interested in the Polly Pockets  but it was determined she was still a bit young for them when she tried to eat the Polly clothes. Yuck!
Saturday we also spoke with Steve's folks who said that his cousin was in town and would be coming on Sunday. Kristina and Andy are here on vacation from St. Paul. The last time we saw Kristina was before we were married when John and Joanne brought the family to Camarillo! We went to church and had a big breakfast at IHOP. They came over in the afternoon after visiting Temecula's wine country. Sunday Supper at David and Sandra's was delicious.
With it being Oscar night I finished off my night in front of the BIG TV to watch the show. It's the one night of the year I specifically request the nice TV. With the HD channels I get to see every age line, botox injection and bit of makeup everyone is wearing, a bit scary!

Unexpected Weekend Plans

Our Saturday began with sports as usual. Kelsey ran the 1600 again. She was really shooting for a 6:00 time. She came in at 6:18, a one second PR. She wasn't happy and hopefully she'll turn that disappointment into some great changes in her time. She won't be running in a meet for about 3 weeks now. We followed that with Jake's next game. He played just about the whole game at quarterback. He is really enjoying this season with his coach and team. He is learning a lot of fundamentals about football.
Tabby was none too thrilled to be out a game. She had a sleepover the night before and was still recovering...

On our way home from the game we got a phone call from our dear friends Gus and Karen. They have a house in Arrowhead and had gone up for the weekend. They said the snow was great and that we should come up right now! We quickly packed, stopped at the store for wood, snow pants for Jake, and tire chains. We had a great time of snowball fights, tobogganing, building snow forts, and playing with Chester. Steve and Gus went skiing on Sunday while we all played at the house. We are up there every 4th of July and this was our first winter trip. We are now ready for Park City!

Happy Valentine's Day

My Stevie bought me these gorgeous flowers for Valentine's Day. The rest of our day was very unromantic but this was so sweet! Yes, he is the best :) Oh, I made him breakfast (coffee cake) and had a great dinner planned but our plans changed. Details to come.

Cookies!

It's been a while since I've made cookies. The problem is that when I make them I eat them all. I have no will power when it comes to a good chocolate chip cookie! Today I was in need of a dessert and pulled out a "cookie in a jar" mix that we received as a gift. The kids loved them but my Stevie says there's nothing like our homemade recipe.

What a Day!

It seems Saturday is my day to post. Someday I'll get more in a week. We have had so much rain over the last few days. It's been great! With a busy day ahead, Kel and I decided to get her run in at about 11:00, hoping to avoid the impending rain. We headed out with cloudy skies, no rain. About 3 miles into our run it began to sprinkle. Then we were faced with a downpour! I thought "We can just run through it. It won't last long". Soon after the rain turned to hail. At mile 4 we were drenched, cold and ready to be home. Luckily I had my phone in my running pack. I called my sweetheart and he came to our rescue. We continued to run through the rain until we met up with him. Our shoes are still drying out...

Jake had his first flag football game of the season. He is excited for another chance to perfect his football skills. It wasn't raining but it was cloudy and cold.

As the team quarterback, Jake makes a handoff to Bryson. Bryson scored a touchdown on that handoff!

Getting a pass off before getting "sacked".

The evening ended with Tabby and I making Valentine's.  We got her done, tomorrow will be Jake's turn. Being the uncrafty boy that he is he said "Mom, you can do anything you want. Oh, and will you write the names and sign them for me?". Of course, anything for my little guy!
