The new couch is here. Thanks to Mike for staying at our house while we were at work to supervise the arrival. (I had an observation and Steve had something). It is very BIG. Now when we have company everyone will have a place to sit.

Antsy
Can you tell? I've changed my background at least 5 times in the last week. We have only 6 1/2 weeks of school left (but whose counting). I can't WAIT!!!! Two days later we are off to Hawaii, which explains the beach background. I'm not usually a fan of the beach, but this is Hawaii! The whole family is going. It can't get here soon enough.

No Camera!
I've missed so many great photo opportunities this week because my camera was in the wrong bag! One of the highlights was Jacob being an MC in his school Variety Show. Surprisingly, he wanted to audition last week for the part and got it! Who knew Jake secretly wanted to be the center of attention. He had two performances during the school day on Thursday and one in the evening. We arrived at the school at 5:50 for the 6:00 performance. When we got there the fire alarm was going off. Someone had pulled it in the MPR. A few minutes later the power went out. This wasn't an isolated incident. The power was out from Temecula to Perris! Just when the principal was going to postpone the show the power came back on, but the alarm went off. What a crazy night. They were finally able to go on with the show. Jake did great! I am so proud of him for doing it. At home he likes attention, but at school he usually shies away from it. Of course when he was up I realized I had my camera in my school bag and not my purse...so no photo...BUMMER!

Facelift
I have been having fun playing with my blog lately. I have been looking for a photo editing software for a MAC for a while. Of course I wanted a free one to download. Paint.net is good but won't work on my MAC. I finally found "Gimp" and have been finding my way around it. I have spent quite a few hours trying to figure out how to personalize my header. Tonight it finally worked! Hope you like it.

New Glasses

Like my new glasses? They are hideous! I lost mine a few weeks ago at a meeting. My insurance won't pay for new ones until August. I couldn't wait that long! I scoured the web for a cheap eye glass site and found 39glasses.com (or something like that). I got these beauties for only $39 and that included shipping! They did have some better looking frames but of course they cost more. I'll deal with these until August....what I will suffer through to save a buck.

Burnin' Down the House
Tonight at dinner Steve smelled something burning. Our eyes turned to the stove, I frequently forget to turn off the burners. Nope, they were off. HMMM... maybe a bug landed on the lamp and was now frying. It wouldn't be the first time. After we ate Jake noticed it still smelled strong. The kids ran upstairs to watch a movie. "It really stinks up here" they yelled, only to be shortly followed by "FIRE!!!". Sure enough, one of the halogen lamps in the playroom had flames, yes, flames, coming from the top of it! I called to Steve who promptly removed the lamp to the backyard. With tongs he removed the burning pile from the top of the lamp...
This pile of black was once a sock. Whose sock you might ask? and how did it get there? Most likely Jake's as his socks are always strewn around the house. Disaster averted...

La Jolla for the Day
We drove to La Jolla today to stroll the boardwalk...
see the seals and sea lions in the cove...
hang out by the water...
look for shells at Shell Beach...
enjoy a picnic lunch at the park...
and climb a few trees! Despite Kelsey's look she really did want her picture taken. She had a terrible stomach ache when we were taking this and was cold (which explains the blanket).
We ended the day by going to Pacific Beach. No pictures taken. I don't think we will ever go back there again. With the strange men saying things to my children, it's not really a family friendly place! None of us are really beach people anyway...
