New Couch

There it is...our new couch...or at least a picture from the manufacturer of what resembles what our new couch will look like (did that make sense?) Steve is very tired of sinking into our couches and being uncomfortable. Since we spend so much time in our family room we should be comfortable, right? The leather couches in there are about 10 years old. We have tried restuffing them, putting plywood under the bottom, nothing works. So we ventured out on Sunday to look for a sectional that is firm and would provide more seating. If you were here for SuperBowl or any sporting event you know how we need more seating desperately! We found a sectional that was perfect. After negotiating, Steve and our sales gal were at a $100 difference. We called her bluff and walked away fully expecting her to say "what a minute, what if I bring the price to ...". Well, that didn't happen. We left empty handed. On Monday we went to San Marcos and thought we'd have no problem finding a similar couch at a good price. Boy were we wrong. The closest we found was $1000 more! We went back this morning with our tail between our legs and got the couch we wanted (with the price we wanted to boot). It is being custom made and should be ready in 4 weeks or so. We can't wait! The color is more creme, yes creme, no I'm not crazy. The length is bigger than the one shown and has a "wedge" corner instead of a right angle. The couch comes with 5 coordinating pillows and a large ottoman. No more food in the family room!

Jake's blog

This photo is from my budding blogger Jake. He has been begging me to help him make his own blog where he can link to different games on the web. Not sure what is there yet, but check it out! His link is on the sidebar.

Sunglasses needed...

I apologize for the glaring whiteness of my leg, that is what it is. These are my two bruises that I sustained from skiing last week. The one on my calf (yes, that's my calf) is from falling on Monday and landing on the ski. I have no idea where the other came from. I can only assume it's from skiing, although, I have been known to attain mystery bruises.

The Canyons

WOW, what a great last day of skiing! We headed to The Canyons, with Terry and Christian joining us. Everyone was past the bunny hills and off to the blue. Jake is fantastic on skis. I think he'll be just like his dad when he gets older! Tabby is Miss Independent out there, and Kel is enjoying it as well. I walked away with only 1 bruise below my knee from falling on my ski the first day. Thanks Renita and Terry for letting us stay at your beautiful home. We can't wait to see Park City in the summer time! (P.S. Tabby was having a grumpy morning, a la "Crabby Tabby" but had a great day!)

Park City Mountain

Today we ventured to Park City Mountain Resort. It was the first time at this mountain for all of us. They have three great runs for first timers like us. The kids did great. They were on the lifts by themselves! I couldn't keep up with them or get down the hill fast enough. Kelsey spent the afternoon on the green runs. She did great! Had a couple of spills but overall has picked up skiing pretty fast. Today Kelsey and I woke up very sore and stiff. We are spending the day finishing homework, shopping, and relaxing. Tomorrow will be another day of skiing with about 6-12 inches of snow predicted for tonight.

Deer Valley

We have had a great first day in Park City. Steve and Gus showed Jake and Kel some basics about skiing and then hit the slopes. Karen spent the day teaching Tabby, Jake and Kel how to ski. The did great and even rode the ski lifts by themselves. Deer Valley has a great beginner slope with two lifts. Tabby was miss independent and was the first to ride alone. Today we are headed to Park City Mountain to put our skills to the test on the green slopes.
